UDC chapter awarded for Cross of Honor dedication

The Capt. John Wesley Whidden Chapter 2501 of the United Daughters of the Confederacy met recently at Peppercorn’s resturant in Lake Placid with vice president Julie Perry presiding. There were 16 members in attendance, along with prospective member Boots Nedoroscik.

Leon Arthur, Commander of Confederate Cow Cavalry Camp 2181 presented certificates of appreciation from the Florida Division, Sons of Confederate Veterans and 11th Brigade, Southwest Florida SCV to the local chapter for support of the Bereah Cemetery Cross of Honor dedication. The service honored five Confederate veterans buried at the Corinth Baptist Church at Bereah. Receiving certificates of appreciation were Joy Christmas, Pat Leidel and Linda Purvis.
