Young students bring
home honors from Mathcounts competition

Lake Placid Christian School's Mathcounts team brought home top honors from a Regional competition.

The teams from Lake Placid Christian School and Lake Placid Middle School have returned from Indian River State College where they competed in the 30th annual Regional Mathcounts competition. The annual event covers Highlands, Okeechobee, Martin, and St. Lucie counties and is sponsored by the National Society of Professional Engineers.

LPCS won the team event as Bethany McLean took first place, Aliyah McLean claimed third, Sam Rogers came in fifth, Robin Shattler was ninth, Camille Shattler brought home 12th place, and Andrew McIntosh was 21st. The team also placed second in the orals round. The whole team will continue on to the state competition in Orlando.
