The first harsh bite of winter cold arrived Friday night and continued into the weekend, leaving many to scrape ice from windshields before leaving home for last-minute Christmas shopping.

I’ve promised co-workers that I will try not to whine about the frigid temperatures, but allow me to remind faithful readers that it is my strong belief that our freezing weather has no place in the slice of paradise we call Highlands County.
