John H. “Johnny” Arender, Jr., 73, of Lake Placid and formerly of Islamorada, passed away Sunday afternoon, Nov. 4, 2012, at Florida Hospital Lake Placid.
Born Feb. 11, 1939, in North Carolina to Hilda (Favors) and John H. Arender, Sr., he was has a 35-year career with Florida Keys Electric Cooperative in Islamorada before retiring and moving to Lake Placid in 2001. Mr. Arender enjoyed poker, golf, fishing and dancing and spending time with family and friends. He was a member of Lake Placid Elks Lodge 2661 and was of the Methodist faith.
Mr. Arender is survived by his wife of 50 years, Martha; three daughters, Terrilyn Jones (Don), Tamela Worthington (Truman) and Julianne Jackson (Hugh); a son, Jeffery Arender (Sammy); six grandchildren; two great grandsons; a brother, Don Arender of South Carolina, many nieces and nephews, and his cats, Sadie and Punky.
A service to celebrate Mr. Arender’s life was Wednesday, Nov. 7 at Scott Funeral Home, Lake Placid, with Rev. Jerry McCauley officiating.
Cremation arrangements were entrusted with Scott Funeral Home, Lake Placid.
