Barbara A. Kelsey Whitacre

Barbara A. Kelsey Whitacre, 66, of Orlando, died unexpectedly Friday,
Nov. 30, 2012, in Florida Hospital Orlando in the companionship of her sister, Jimmie Nell Kelsey.

Born in Sebring on Sept. 11, 1946, she was the daughter of Hazel and James Kelsey of Lake Placid. She grew up in Lake Placid and was a graduate of Lake Placid High School before graduating from Florida Southern College with a bachelor’s degree in education, Cum Laude. Mrs. Whitacre later earned a masters degree in guidence counseling from Rollins College. She taught school and also served as a counselor for 36 years in the Orange County School District. She loved to fish, garden and enjoyed the casinos. She attended the Methodist church in Orlando.

Mrs. Whitacre is survived by her sister, Jimmie Nell Kelsey of Lake Placid; nephews, Rusty Hartsfield of Lake Placid, and Jason Hartsfield of Tampa; and a great nephew, Shaun Hartsfield, also of Tampa.

Graveside services will begin at
1 p.m. today (Wednesday) at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lake Placid. Mrs. Whitacre will be laid to rest alongside her husband who died in 2010.

Funeral arrangements are under the devotion of Michael A. Brochetti Funeral Home, Lake Placid.
