Donald E. Kitcher, 87, of Lake Placid, died Monday, Nov. 26, 2012.

Born in Jackson, Miss., he came to Lake Placid in 1985 from College Station, Texas. He was a lecturer and instructor for the U.S. Army, serving 43 years and retiring as a master sergeant.

Mr. Kitcher is survived by his wife, Mary; a daughter, Maybeth Grimm of Sebring; sons Joe Winstel and John Winstel, both of Sebring; a brother, Kenneth Kitcher of Anchorage, Alaska; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and three great great-grandchildren.

Cremation arrangements were handled by Chandler Cremation Service, Lake Placid.
