Richard A. Dessing
Richard A. Dessing, 84, of Lake Placid, passed away Friday, Dec. 7, 2012, at Good Shepherd Hospice in Sebring.
Born July 6, 1928, in Weston, W.Va. to Frank and Carrie (Foster) Dessing, he retired as the Financial Operations Manager at the Marion, Ind. RCA plant on Jan. 1, 1985, and moved to Lake Placid. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in Japan as part of the U.S. Occupation Forces.
Over the years Mr. Dessing was active as a Cub Scout leader, Little League coach, Junior Achievement advisor, and was involved with the YMCA and the United Way. He also served as treasurer, vice president, and the president of the Gas City Library Board.
Mr. Dessing was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Betty Jean (Holloway) Dessing and a brother, Frank Dessing. Survivors include a daughter, Jane (Craig) Edwards of Gas City, Ind; and sons, Rick (Lisa) Dessing of Clarkston, Wash., and David (Laura) Dessing, Marion, Ind; sisters, Dorothy Conroy, Marion and Mary Landis of Sebring; eight grandchildren, five step grandchildren, and several great grandchildren.
Mr. Dessing enjoyed his friends, neighbors, and “poker buddies” of Tomoka Heights.

There will be a Memorial Service in Marion, Ind. at a later date. Arrangements were entrusted to Scott Funeral Home, Lake Placid.
