Dana Eaton Merrill
Dana Eaton Merrill, 74, of Sebring, died Monday, Dec. 31, 2012, at Florida Heartland Medical Center in Sebring.
A native of Maine, he was born June 9, 1938, to A. Gertrude and Blaine Merrill of Rockland. Mr. Merrill graduated from high school in 1956 in Rockland and entered the work force with a concrete manufacturing company based in Maine. He was transferred to a plant in New Hampshire entering into a city government job in Nashua. Mr. Merrill spent the next 20 years as captain for the Nashua, N.H., fire deptartment. He retired in 1985 and moved to Lake Placid where he resided through 2004, then moved to Sebring. He was a Baptist by faith and enjoyed golf and was a member of Lake Placid Elks Lodge 2661.
Mr. Merrill is survived by his wife, Jacqueline A. Dumais Merrill, whom he wed Dec. 10, 1985; children Richard Merrill, Tracy Merrill, Elizabeth Merrill, Catherine Sweeney; and family Dana Merrill Jr., Kevin Jackman, Keith Jackman (Beth); siblings, Jean Bell (Robert), Dianne Simonton (Ralph); in-laws, Jeannine Dagenais and Steve Wilson; nine grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
In celebration of Mr. Merrill’s life and to honor his memory, a memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 12 at Michael A. Brochetti Funeral Home in Lake Placid. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Camden, Maine.
Funeral services are under the devotion of Michael A. Brochetti Funeral Home, Lake Placid.
