Marjorie Katherine Messer McGarry
Marjorie Katherine Messer McGarry, 68, of Lake Placid, died Monday evening, Jan. 7, 2013, at Good Shepherd Hospice in Sebring.
Born in Charlotte County on
May 21, 1944, she was the daughter of Edith Walker and Andrew Forrest Messer. Mrs. McGarry spent most of her life in Clewiston, spanning some 45 years. She was a bookkeeper in the banking industry and was a avid gardening specialist. She came to Lake Placid in 2003 from Clewiston and was a member of the Highlands County Orchid Society and was raised Baptist.
Mrs. McGarry is survived by her husband, Anthony McGarry; children Sandra Kay Whidden of Lake Placid, Karen Faye Bickel of South Ryegate, Vt., Russell Wayne Beam of Okeechobee; a brother, John Messer of Brooksville, Miss.; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her mother and father; Dorothy Whaley, Kay Mixon, Barbara Jean Ross and James Earl Messer.
Mrs. McGarry’s life was celebrated with a memorial service Saturday, Jan. 12, at Michael A. Brochetti Funeral Home in Lake Placid. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Good Shepherd Hospice, 1110 Hammock Road, Sebring, Fl. 33870 or the American Leukemia Foundation.
