Luther E. ‘Red’ Bohanon

Luther E. “Red” Bohanon, 82, of the Spring Lake subdivision at Sebring, died Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013, at the Kenilworth Care Center in Sebring.

Born in Georgia on Sept. 1, 1930, to Velma Harden and Barney Bohanon of Baxley, he was a U.S Air Force veteran. Mr. Bohanon was a resident of Highlands County for 33 years, spending the last seven years in the Spring Lake community. He was a rancher for 26 years in Venus. He was a member of the Venus United Methodist Church, Spring Lake Golf Resort, past chairman of the Economic Development Council and past president of the Highlands County Cattleman’s Association. He enjoyed golf and watching Fox news.

Mr. Bohanon is survived by his wife of 31 years, Jolene; children, Robert (Niki) of Venus, Donald of Ft. Worth, Texas, Sally Bohanon of Roswell, N.M., and Jimmy (Chantel) of Ocala; siblings Henry A. of Clearwater, Charles R. of Mesa, Ariz., Aubrey E. of Spring Lake, William W. of Roswell, N.M., and Barney J. Jr. of Abilene, Texas; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceeded in death by sons Lawrence T. and David E., and brother Hubert R.

Family will receive friends from 10 to
11 a.m. today (Wednesday) at Spring Lake Presbyterian Church with funeral services beginning at 11 a.m. with Pastors John and Harriet Davis celebrating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lake Placid with military honors.

Funeral arrangements are under the devotion of Michael A. Brochetti Funeral Home, Lake Placid.
