Ray E. Wells

Ray E. Wells, 84, of Sebring, died Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013, at Good Shepherd Hospice in Sebring.

Born Sept. 10, 1928, in Greencastle, Ind. to Louis E. and Eula Grace (Hutcheson) Wells, he graduated Reelsville High School in 1947 where he was a member of the 1946 Reelsville High School basketball team that was later inducted into the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame. Mr. Wells served in the U.S. Army and worked at IBM for over 33 years, retiring in 1987. He was a charter member of the Fillmore Volunteer Fire Department and a member of the Fillmore Christian Church and Past Master of Applegate Lodge #155 F&AM.

Mr. Wells is survived by three sons, David W. Wells, Kenneth L. Wells, and William D. Wells; sister Marie Cooper (Robert); brothers Larry Wells (Deanna) and Ron Wells (Penny); eight grandchildren; seven great-granddchildren; several nieces and nephews; and companion Alice A. Kosanke. He was preceded in death by his parents, infant sister Mary Grace, brothers Charles L. Wells and Donald D. Wells, his wife Merribeth, son James R. Wells, and niece Jill L. Wells.

Services were Monday, Feb. 18 at Sarasota National Cemetery.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Scott Funeral Home, Lake Placid.
