Crime rate drops in first half of 2012

Crime dropped 14.2 percent in the first six months of this year in Highlands County, according to statistics released by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement in its semi-annual Uniform Crime Report.
The report lists index crimes, defined as murder, forcible sex offenses, robbery, aggravated assault, burglary, larceny and motor vehicle theft.
