Green Dragon boys beat Mulberry, 67-56, in District basketball tourney
The Lake Placid Green Dragon varsity basketball team helped itself to an opening-round win over the Mulberry Panthers, 67-56, in a game played Monday, Feb. 4, in Avon Park.
Lake Placid stormed out to an early 9-4 lead on the strength of a trey and a regular field goal by Heath Harris and another basket by Scott Colley. The first quarter score, however, found Mulberry holding a 16-13 lead at the buzzer. The Dragons were hampered in the first quarter as two of their wheelhorses, point guard Anfernee Munnings and forward Nick Tuason were whistled for three violations a piece and accordingly sat for most of the second and third periods.
