Former Lake Wales police officer and Burney Hayes has been dismissed as a citizen coach at the Lake Wales High School.

“It’s not a firing as he was not an employee in the school,” attorney Robin Gibson, chair of the Lake Wales Charter Schools, stated adamantly. “We have rescinded the agreement to use his services for which he was paid a modest stipend. He also was, on occasion, a substitute teacher.”
