A formal charge of battery against a 16-year-old LWHS student has been filed against Burney Hayes. Classified as a first-degree misdemeanor, the charge has a maximum penalty of one year in jail. The arraignment will be at 8:30 a.m. on Feb. 7.
Court documents state Hayes “did intentionally touch or strike Michael Thompson against his will.”
