I saw it coming . . .

Remember my writings about the concoction known as Obamacare? I finally got a direct hit from it and I am blaming the Obama/Pelosi/Reid team and the socialist members of the ‘progressive’ party!

Beware, because what is hurting me now it might affect you in the very near future..

Without any further comments, I will copy the first two paragraphs of the letter I received in the mail on September 30, 2013 from my HMO Medicare insurance company. Please note the date of that letter. It was mailed before the possibility of the shutdown of the federal government services on October 1, 2013.

October 2, 2013

Dear Cesar Guerra,

Your Medicare plan won’t be offered in 2014. This means your coverage through Coventry Advantra Select Plus (HMO-POS) will end December 31, 2013. You need to make some decisions about your Medicare coverage. If you don’t take action before December 31, you will lose your prescription drug coverage and only have Original Medicare starting January 1, 2014.

What happens if I don’t join another Medicare plan?

If you don’t take action before December 31, you will lose your prescription drug coverage and only have Original Medicare starting January 1, 2014. Because your plan will no longer be offered, you can join a new plan anytime between October 15, 2013 and February 28, 2014. If you don’t join a plan with prescription drug coverage, you won’t have prescription drug coverage in 2014 and you may have to pay a late-enrollment penalty if you join a drug plan later.

What do I need to do?

You need to choose have you want to get your health and prescription drug coverage. Here are your Options for Medicare coverage:

Blah, Blah, Blah.

I don’t want to waste your time to read the five pages of options contained in this letter! GOM! I am convinced it will be a real task to try to understand all the alternatives, rules and regulations contained in the two thousand plus pages of rules and regulations of the Obamacare plan! Possibly a team of Philadelphia lawyers might even get confused trying to make some sense of this abomination!

Fortunately I’m healthy and visit the doctor only for check-ups, but it could be possible I have trouble finding another doctor that still accepts Medicare orphans like me?

After my retirement I immediately enrolled in Medicare (A&B) health plan. Some time after that I signed up with a private insurance company that serviced the medical needs of retirees with Medicare coverage. I have changed my enrollment several times with different companies after comparing the benefits offered in the area I live.

Last March, while I was on vacation away from home my brother called to inform me that our insurer Universal Health Plan was closing their business (hint, hint) as they went belly up. He told me that we would have just a few days to secure new coverage with another company or we would risk being penalized by the federal government if we didn’t do that according their timetable.

I am very grateful that my brother (he is a ‘professional bargainer’) was able to find and secure coverage with Coventry without any big disruption or penalty. I did the same right after my return home. Now both of us are again in need of finding another insurer that might still offer something similar or even close to the Coventry coverage we are losing at midnight on December 31, 2013.

Royal molasses! I will not end this writing without exposing and one more time accusing President Obama, Congresswoman Pelosi and Senator Reid for the premeditated and planned destruction of the health insurance industry that we have at the present time.

Don’t get me wrong, the principals of that industry are not angels by any stretch of the imagination, but neither are the elected figureheads that should be protecting our interests instead of forcing upon us their socialist agenda.
