Mary L. Rimer, 100, of Lake Wales, Fla., passed away Sunday, Sept. 8, 2013 at her residence.

A native of Cape Girardeau, Mo., she moved to Lake Wales from Miami, Fla., in 1983. After graduating from S.E. Missouri University, she taught school for three years before going to work for the U.S. Government. She worked in Washington, D.C.; New York, N.Y; Lima, Peru; Miami and Rio de Janerio, Brazil, as an Administrative Assistant with the Federal Aviation Administration for some 25 years. She was a member of Golfview Baptist Church in Lake Wales.

She is survived by her sisters-in-law, Constance H. Hoffman and Eula Faye Rimer of Missouri; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Francis M. Rimer; parents, John and Bessie Hoffman; sister, Martha L. Chronister; and brothers, William D. Hoffman and John R. Hoffman Jr., all of Missouri.

She loved to sew, travel, take pictures, attend gem shows, cut and polish stones and make jewelry. She was a member of the Imperial Bone Valley Gem, Mineral and Fossil Society as well as The All Rock Hound Club of America.

Visitation will take place at 9 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 12, 2013, at the Golfview Baptist Church with services at 10 a.m. Rev. David Koon officiating. Interment will be held in Miami.

Arrangements are by Marion Nelson Funeral Home.
