Man checks into hospital, needs gun secured

On Oct. 19, Lake Wales Police were called to Lake Wales Medical Center in reference to securing a firearm from a patient. Reports note that officers met with a man being admitted to the hospital who was in possession of a firearm and had no way to secure it. The firearm and pocket knife was taken and turned into evidence for safekeeping, reports note. The man had all the proper documentation to possess a firearm, so the man was told to pick up the firearm from the police upon his discharge from the hospital.
