“Smokey Joe’s Cafe” comes to Florida Studio Theatre’s Keating Theatre where it will play until Jan. 3.
Featuring 39 songs by Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller, the show earned seven Tony Awards and a lengthy (more than 2,000 performances) run on Broadway. The show features a variety of sounds from rhythm and blues and rock ‘n roll to ballads and soul — music that kept up with all the changes in American from the end of World War II to the turn of the millennium. The two songwriters were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland in 1987.
