Fort Myers once had two active railroad depots. The one used by the Atlantic Coast Line today houses the Southwest Florida Museum of History. The other, several blocks away, is behind a high wire fence and appears almost deserted.

The museum displays interesting traveling exhibits throughout the year and holds monthly author evenings from September to April but it is its permanent collection that draws me back again and again.
