PORT CHARLOTTE — While the economy dominated the presidential debate Wednesday night, many Port Charlotte High School students in the senior advanced-placement government class were left asking, “What are the candidates going to do for me?”

For their homework assignment, the students were required to watch the debate between President Barack Obama and his Republican challenger, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, and to take notes in preparation for an in-class discussion Thursday.
