NORTH PORT — Former city commissioner Barbara Gross, and her husband of 57 years, Dick, who have lived in North Port since 1995, are doing the opposite of many retirees: They’re moving north.

In fact, they are returning to Richmond, Va. — an area they called home for the 15 years before coming to North Port — to be closer to their three sons, two in Richmond and one in Annapolis, and their families.
