SARASOTA COUNTY — The REV3 Florida HalfRev Triathlon that wound its way through North Port and South County in late October will air on CBS channel 10 on Saturday afternoon in Sarasota County.

The event, which was a half-ironman distance of 70.3 miles, originally was scheduled to begin at Maxine Barritt Park with a 1.2-mile swim at the Venice Fishing Pier; continue with a 56-mile bicycle ride from Venice to Englewood along State Road 776 to North Port and U.S. 41 back to Venice; and end with a 13.1-mile run along the Venetian Waterway Park. It was held on a brisk day with 30 mph wind gusts from Superstorm Sandy, forcing the cancellation of the swimming portion of the event due to high waves. The swim was replaced with a 1.5-mile run.
