LED lighting retrofit project saves city $13K
NORTH PORT — The city of North Port saved in 2012 both electricity and money at an average rate of almost $1,090 a month, or just under $13,080 a year.
The city replaced
159 inefficient high-intensity discharge and fluorescent fixtures with 159 LED light fixtures. The new lights are
located in and around some of the city’s most-visited public venues, including City Hall, the Police Department, the George Mullen Activity Center gym and parking lot, and the Morgan Family Community Center.
