Law enforcement officers may retire, but they are a close-knit fraternity, always looking for ways to assist those who follow in their footsteps. That’s the case with the Southwest Florida Chapter of the Retired Law Enforcement Association, based in Port Charlotte.

This very active chapter, with more than 90 members retired from local, state and federal law enforcement organizations, is on a quest to ensure every K-9 in Southwest Florida has a protective vest. The association is holding a fundraiser Feb. 20 at Visani’s Comedy Dinner Theater to raise money to reach that goal.
