Homeowners misled into overpaying for unneeded deed
Soon after moving into their North Port home, Edward and Vivian Bauer received an official-looking envelope from Conveyance Transfer Services in Washington D.C. that got their attention.
There was a warning that a $2,000 fine and five years imprisonment or both awaited any person interfering or obstructing with the delivery of the letter. It advised the Bauers to open it immediately.
