Fruitworms in your tomatoes — caterpillars of ruination

While the name “fruitworm” may sound appetizing to some (“What flavor fruitworm is it — lemon, orange, tutti frutti?”), these caterpillars, also known as cornear worms, are not wholesome in any way.

Borne from a plain, brownish moth, the tomato fruitworm goes out of its way to be a real pest as it chews deep into a tomato, making it in some cases unusable and often causing it to rot. Let’s look at some things you should know about this caterpillar of ruination.
