NORTH PORT — A standoff with Dr. Grigory Pogrebinsky over safety issues at Warm Mineral Springs Day Spa led to a unanimous vote Monday by the North Port City Commission to revoke his bid to run the Springs for a year — an action that could leave the Springs closed for several more months.
“We really didn’t have a choice,” North Port Commissioner Jim Blucher said Monday. “We had to go by exactly what was stated in the contract, and he wanted us to make concessions that we couldn’t do. It was an as-is bid, and you don’t negotiate those. He wanted to negotiate, and that doesn’t work.”
