James F. Conway Sr.

James F. Conway Sr., 89, of North Port, Fla., and formerly of Yonkers, N.Y., passed away Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2013.

He was born Nov. 27, 1923, in Yonkers, to Thomas and Elizabeth Conway.

James served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He was a member of the Holy Name Society at Christ the King Catholic Church in Yonkers, and was a member of the Yonkers Yacht Club for more than 20 years. James retired from the City of Yonkers and relocated to North Port.

He is survived by his children, James (Cora) Conway Jr. of North Port, Michael A. Conway of New York, and Patricia A. (David) Dukarski of Tennessee; grandchildren, James, Christine, Christopher, Julie and David; great-grandchildren, Cora, Zac and Lilly; and sister, Cecilia Walsh of North Port. James was preceded in death by his wife of 35 years, Ruth Conway.

A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 4, 2013, at San Pedro Catholic Church, 14380 Tamiami Trail, North Port. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Tidewell Hospice, 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, FL 34238. For online condolences, please visit www.mckeenorthport.com.
