KISSIMMEE — The Lemon Bay High School wrestlers found some tough competition in 28 teams from Tennessee, Georgia and Florida in the Knockout Christmas Classic at Osceola High School on Friday and Saturday.
The Manta Rays finished 20th and advanced seven wrestlers into the elimination round. Three wrestlers made it into Saturday’s competition: James Connaghan at 182, Riley Castle at 126 and Jack Lipp at 106. Connaghan took seventh place, going 4-2 on the tournament and earning his 96th career victory. Lipp and Castle both had 3-2 records for the tournament, which Lemon Bay coach Gary Jonseck described as having “phenomenal competition.”
