MIAMI (AP) — Firefighters with Miami-Dade Fire Rescue are handing out 180 turkeys to needy senior citizens.
Firefighters from the Fontainebleau and Sweetwater fire stations are hosting the turkey give-a-way. Winn Dixie Supermarkets, Medical Priority Pharmacy and the City of Sweetwater are helping.
A city statement says for the second year in a row, district firefighters donated a portion of the money used to purchase the turkeys.
The event will take place Saturday at the Jorge Mas Canosa Youth Center. The turkeys will be given to those with vouchers.
