Composer Mark Hayes was the guest conductor for the Charlotte Chorale’s performance Sunday evening at Burnt Store Presbyterian Church in Punta Gorda. Hayes directed the chorale during several songs at the concert, including the world premier of his newest composition, “The Gettysburg Address.” He was commissioned to do the work by R. Bruce MacGregor, the chorale’s music director, who is retiring at the end of the season after 24 years. Here, MacGregor, to whom the concert was dedicated, directs the chorale.
