Sinclair Lewis’ 1927 bestselling novel “Elmer Gantry” was widely criticized from pulpits nationwide for distastefully portraying its central character. The 1960 film starring Burt Lancaster as Gantry equally tarnished clergy reputations. Both versions malignantly model the main-character clerical respect for God’s holiness and honor, casting ministers and priests in a lurid light.

Priests and ministers who’ve wandered off course will find new direction in Leviticus. God’s remedy for the cleansing from, forgiveness of, and conflict with sin’s continually evil influence is introduced as early as Leviticus 4:3‑12, and 26. There Moses strategizes the conquest of evil’s assault against the priesthood.
