C ongratulations to Emily Byrski (Port Charlotte High School), Daniel Campbell (Edison State College) and Shannon Casey (Lemon Bay High School). They recently were among 40 students to receive the Selby Scholar award, according to a press release from the William G. and Marie Selby Foundation of Sarasota.

According to the release, the Selbys began the program in the 1950s to assist local students with limited means to achieve a bachelor’s degree. Today, the renewable scholarship pays up to $7,000 per year — that’s up to $28,000 per student.
