Some things just go together: bacon and eggs, peanut butter and jelly, spaghetti and meatballs, cake and ice cream.
Likewise, reading and writing are two sides of the same coin — communication. Like bacon and eggs or the piano keys of Paul McCartney and Stevie Wonder’s “Ebony and Ivory,” they “… live together in perfect harmony.” On a practical level, writers need readers to read, and readers need writers to write.
