Genowefa Helena “Jenny” Furtado, 90, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2012, at Fawcett Memorial Hospital in Port Charlotte, Fla.

She was born Jan. 2, 1922, in New Bedford, Mass., to Walter and Katarzyna (nee Slowik) Sabatowski.

Genowefa moved to Florida from West Greenwich, R.I. She lived at Consulate Health Care of Port Charlotte, where she received loving care by the entire staff. Jenny enjoyed bowling, bingo and playing cards.

She is survived by her children, John (Joyce) Furtado of Port Charlotte, Janice (Patrick) Botelho of Port Charlotte, and Linda Thatcher of Rotonda West, Fla.; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to the service time at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2012, at Englewood Community Funeral Home, 3070 S. McCall Road. Englewood, Fla. Genowefa will be buried with her family at St. Mary’s Cemetery in New Bedford. The family requests to omit flowers and make contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association of Sarasota, 1230 S.
