Josiah E. “Joss” Smith, 68, of Port Charlotte, Fla., passed away Monday, Jan. 7, 2013.

He was born July 22, 1944, in England, to Harry and Harriet (nee Hitchen) Smith.

Joss moved from England to Port Charlotte 10 years ago, and was the owner and operator of Dough Boys Pizza and Subs. His nickname was the “Cookie Monster,” because he enjoyed eating cookies while watching TV. Joss will be remembered as a wonderful husband and father, and had a great smile.

He will be greatly missed by his wife of 44 years, Glennis; daughter, Claire (Kevin) Jubb of the UK; and his four-legged companions, Brandy, Spike, Jill and Sophie.

A memorial service to celebrate Joss’ life will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013, at Larry Taylor Funeral and Cremation Services. Memorial donations may be made in Joss’ name to Tidewell Hospice Inc., 1144 Veronica St., Port Charlotte, FL 33952.
