Opal Ann Ewaldt

Opal Ann Ewaldt, 79, of Port Charlotte, Fla., passed away Monday, Jan. 14, 2013, at her residence.

She was born Dec. 22, 1933, in Sarasota, Fla., to Paul Hancock and Ruby (nee Johnson) Hancock.

Opal came to Port Charlotte, from Orlando, Fla., in 1960. She was office manager for her family’s plumbing business before her retirement.

Survivors include her four daughters, Janet (Travis) McClain of Port Charlotte, Judith Ewaldt of Orlando, Jenice McClain of Port Charlotte, and Jolene McDuffie of Punta Gorda, Fla.; brothers, Royce (Skie) Hancock of Sorrento, Fla., and Barney (Jane) Hancock of Arcadia, Fla.; two sisters, Yvonne Clausen of Orlando, and Pat (Golda) Cheney of Sarasota; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandson. Opal was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence (Curly) Ewaldt; and brothers, Everett and Kenneth Hancock.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 21, 2013, at Rest Lawn Memorial Gardens Chapel, 1380 Forrest Nelson Blvd., Port Charlotte, FL. Interment to follow. Please visit the online tribute for Opal Ann Ewaldt at www.kays-ponger.com.
