Martha Carroll Campise, 92, of Venice, Fla., and formerly of Port Charlotte, Fla., and East Hartford, Conn., peacefully entered into eternal life, Friday, Feb. 1, 2013, from complications due to pneumonia.

Martha enjoyed being around people, and playing Tennis and Bingo. She was a gentle women with a big heart; Martha never spoke an unkind word, and she was always there to help others in need. Martha and Rocco were not blessed with children of their own, so they open their home and hearts to their nieces and nephews. Martha will be remembered for her gentle kindness, her compassion, her smile which made you smile and taught of the love she had for her extended family and the passion she had to live life to its fullest.

Martha is survived and will be dearly missed by her loving nieces, Cathy (Chuck) Lankford, Mary (Michael) Zdrojowly and Ann (Dave) Gutkowski; nephew, Joseph Campise; and cherished great-nieces and great-nephews, John, Doug, Craig, Curt, Kimberly, Jon, Melissa, Keith, Andrew, Ashely, Breann, Kyle, Eric and Rylie. Along with Martha’s family, she will be deeply missed by Denny Hofmann, who was like a son to her and Rocco. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 54 years, Rocco Campise.

Martha’s family would like to thank the staff of Manor Care for all their support and special care they provided to Martha over the past several years.

There will be a private service and burial in honor of Martha’s life as she is laid to rest beside her loving husband Rocco, Friday, Feb. 8, 2013, at Gulf Pines Memorial Park in Englewood, Fla.

Arrangements are by Lemon Bay Funeral Home, Englewood.
