John P. Korth

John P. Korth, 70, of Port Charlotte, Fla., passed away Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013.

He was the son of Harold and Rose (Fleit) Korth, born Sept. 2, 1942, in Brooklyn, N.Y.

John served in the United States Air Force as a jet mechanic and was stationed in Germany and Libya. He was a retired New York Police Department Detective, also retired as a Supervisor of Security for Broward County Governmental Center in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. John was a member of the D.E.A. and Shomrim Society.

John will be greatly missed by his wife, Shari Kaplan, together 21 years and married 11; daughters, Andrea and Haley (Tom); sons, Jason (Michelle) and Steven; brother, Carl (Donna); and grandchildren, Devorah, Yitzhak, Joshuah, Aaron, Carlin, Mickayla, Benton, Ely and Leo.

A service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013, at Sarasota National Cemetery with Rabbi Joel Mishkin officiating. Sitting Shiva at the family residences until sundown Friday, Feb. 22, 2013. Memorial donations may be made to Cancer Research or Tidewell Hospice.
