Norman P. Gilvey Sr.

Norman P. Gilvey Sr., 96, of Naples, Fla., and formerly of Port Charlotte, Fla., passed away Tuesday, March 12, 2013, in Naples.

He was born in Reading, Mass., Dec. 1, 1916, to Fred and Anna (nee Hackett) Gilvey.

Norman retired from Tool and Die for TIW Plastic Company in Massachusetts in 1978, to Port Charlotte, with his wife Margaret.

He is survived by his sons, Norman P. (Suzanne) Gilvey Jr. of Naples, Rodney (Maxine) Gilvey of Apex, N.C., and Gerald Gilvey of Exeter, N.H.; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Norman was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Margaret, in 1998.

The family will receive friends and neighbors from 11 a.m. until the funeral service at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, March 21, 2013. Burial will follow. Fellowship and shared memories will be provided at Charlotte Memorial Funeral Home, 9400 Indian Springs Cemetery Road, Punta Gorda, Fla. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of family choice, in Norman’s memory.

Arrangements are by Charlotte Memorial Funeral Home and Cemetery.
