Clara Martinez, 91, of Punta Gorda, Fla., passed away Friday, March 15, 2013, at her residence.

She was born Feb. 15, 1922, in Burgettstown, Pa., to Frank Kowalski and Stefania Wojkasek.

Clara came to this area from Stow, Ohio, in 1979. She was an avid golfer, loved to play softball, and was a member of San Antonio Catholic Church.

Clara is survived by her daughter, Frances (James) Martin of Elk Grove Village, Ill.; three grandchildren, James (Dawn) Martin, Julie (Chad) Dirks and Jason Martin; and five great-grandchildren, Calvin Martin, Elliott Martin, Vivian Martin, Landen Dirks and Mason Dirks. She was preceded in death by her husband, Manuel Martinez; three brothers, Frank, Chester and Emil Kowalski; and her cousin, Veronica Bochter.

Visitation is from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. Saturday, March 23, 2013, at Kays-Ponger & Uselton Funeral Home, 2405 Harbor Blvd., Port Charlotte, Fla. The Funeral Mass will follow at noon at San Antonio Catholic Church, 24445 Rampart Blvd., Port Charlotte.
