Daphne Evadne Buchanan, 90, of Port Charlotte, Fla., passed away Saturday, Oct. 12, 2013, in Port Charlotte.
She was born Oct. 13, 1922, in Jamaica, West Indies, to Benjamin and Luanna Davis.
Daphne immigrated to the United States in 1964 from England. She was a retired Certified Nursing Assistant and moved to Port Charlotte from Brooklyn, N.Y., in 1998. Daphne was a faithful member of Port Charlotte New Testament Church of God.
She is survived by her loving family, including her daughters, Fay, Grace and Monica; sons, Carl, Neville, Derrick, Patrick and Ridley; sisters, Viola and Terry; brothers, Rupert and Kenneth; 29 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Daphne was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Linton Buchanan; brother, Clement Davis; and sister, Franceta Dunkley.
Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 25, 2013, at Roberson Funeral Home, Port Charlotte Chapel. The funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, 2013, at Port Charlotte New Testament Church of God. Entombment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Gardens in Port Charlotte. Friends may visit online to sign the memory book and extend condolences to the family.
