PORT CHARLOTTE — This town soon may get a substantial beauty makeover — a long overdue haircut, a close shave, a trim around the edges and some key implants on its gateway entrance roads — thanks to a comprehensive landscaping and beautification plan under design by Charlotte County’s Landscape Committee.

The plan would trim gnarled, unpruned cabbage palm trees and bushes and rescue other vegetation overgrown by weeds in rights of way along gateway roads like U.S. 41 and other county entrances, including Toledo Blade Boulevard, Kings Highway and Harborview Road.
