CHARLOTTE COUNTY — A county ordinance enacted last year drastically altered the plans for Charlotte County Fire/EMS personnel, who normally took to the streets to raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association’s annual fundraiser.
The ordinance prevented any type of panhandling, but it also prevented emergency personnel from pursuing their annual Fill the Boot campaign, in which they roamed popular intersections and asked motorists to help out by stuffing money into boots they were carrying.
