Bankruptcy creates special Medicare
‘do-over’ opportunity

For the last three years, Jennie and John Strayer had their Medicare coverage through a Medicare Advantage Plan offered through Universal Health Care. MA plans are all-inclusive policies — usually including prescription drug benefits — offered by private companies approved by, and under contract to, Medicare.

Everything was fine until John heard that the company just filed for bankruptcy. The 70-year-old Burnt Store Meadows resident is quite concerned. He contacted me because he isn’t sure what’s happening and is exploring other options.
