According to common usage, we’re in the dog days of summer — that sultry period marked by lethargy, inactivity and indolence. Frankly, it’s just too hot and humid to do much, especially when you break a sweat just taking the garbage to the curb or getting the mail.
At Florida Gulf Coast University’s Renaissance Academy in downtown Punta Gorda, the dog days are, likewise, a period of relative quiet. The summer curriculum is winding down, the fall curriculum is waiting in the wings for an October start, and only ongoing programs like Foreign Films, tai chi, and qi gong are in full swing.
