William B. Clift, 78, of Punta Gorda, Fla., passed away Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2012.

He was born April 6, 1934, in Chicago, Ill., and moved to this area in 1992 from Tavernier, Fla.

William was a retired Psychological Specialist for the State of Florida. He was an avid sailor and served in the U.S. Army Reserves Special Forces.

Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Alice; stepdaughter, Gwen Carbino of Leesburg, Fla.; stepson, Patrick Scott of Orlando, Fla.; granddaughter, Ashlynn Scott of Orlando; nephew, Robert E. (Audrey) Clift III of Tallahassee, Fla.; and several great-nieces and great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephew.

Private services will be held. Memorial donations may be made to Habitat for Humanity of Charlotte County, 1354 El Jobean Road, Port Charlotte, FL 33948.
