Jane Marie Ostertag
Jane Marie Ostertag, 74, passed away Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012, due to complications from lung cancer.
She was born Dec. 30, 1937, in Waltham, Mass.
Jane spent most of her life in Massachusetts before settling in Port Charlotte, Fla., after her husband’s retirement from the U.S. Air Force and Polaroid. She is known best as the other half of the “golden girls,” and always made people laugh with her witty sarcasm. Jane was a devoted Catholic and enjoyed nothing more than entertaining family and friends. Her passions included reading, playing bingo, taking cruises, and enjoying Riesling and hot tea. But what made Jane the most proud was her only grandson, he brought a special joy that filled her heart.
She is survived by her son, Joe (Nicole) Ostertag; grandson, Logan Ostertag all of Winter Park, Fla.; sister, Carol O’Rourke; nephew, Dennis (Tami) Grant; nephew, Michael Grant; niece, Denise (Jason) Miles all of Olympia, Wash.; cousin, Marie Pellerin, Lisa (Brian) Pellerin, Joan DiIorio all of Port Charlotte, and Sandra Pellerin of Tampa, Fla.; sister-in-law, Carol O’Rourke; nephews Kevin, Brian, and Sean O’Rourke; niece, Karen O’Rourke all of Clinton, Mass.; several great nieces and nephews; and numerous other loving relatives and friends. Jane was preceded in death by her husband, George Ostertag; and brother, Ritchie O’Rourke.
There will be a memorial service at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30, 2012, St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Jane’s name to the American Cancer Society.
Arrangements are by National Cremation Society.
