William James Pyne

William James Pyne, 73, of Port Charlotte, Fla., passed away Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012, after a prolonged illness.

Beloved husband of 32 years, to Elizabeth Ruth Brown. He passed away at home, surrounded by his family and doggies, peacefully in his sleep.

Bill was a lifelong resident and devotee of Boston, growing up in” Southie” and later living in Beacon Hill and Jamaica Plain. He worked as a longshoreman and was a late retired member of the I.L.A # 800. Bill’s lifelong passion was reading and he always knew all the answers on Jeopardy! He was also an avid Civil War and World War II history buff.

Bill is survived by his siblings, Mary Anne, Joseph, Robert, John (BPD), Kathleen, Roseanne, Patricia; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Mary “Molly” ( Boyle) Pyne; and brothers, Thomas and George.

Funeral at 9 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013, from the O’Brien Funeral Home, 146 Dorchester St., S. Boston. Funeral Mass in St. Monica Church at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends invited. Interment will be private. Visiting hours 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Bill’s memory to the National Library Service for the Blind, via their website at http://www.loc.gov/nls/donate.html, or via mail at, National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped, Attn: Office of the Directior,1291 Taylor St., N.W., Washingtion, DC 20542.
